Jun·to (noun):

  1. Together
  2. A group of persons joined together for a common purpose
  3. An Electric Bicycle Company

We started this business with the mission of fostering community with people willing to fight for a brighter future for ALL of us, not just a select few. After a full week of participating in Philadelphia’s protests, we took a step back and realized that speaking out personally was not enough and that we had to use our platform and our privilege to amplify this message.

The murder of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department is unconscionable. Acts like these should be unfathomable and yet we've seen this before. Walter Scott, Eric Garner, Peter Gain, India Kager, Eric Harris, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor, and countless others. We must never forget their names. They should not have died. And it is our responsibility to ensure they did not die in vain.

“I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.” - Angela Y. Davis

Words are nothing without action and that is why committing to the following:

First: We commit to making our bikes as accessible as possible to people of all socioeconomic backgrounds. We are working on developing new product pricing, financing, rental and leasing options to give our customers a wide range of options for obtaining a JUNTO.

Second: As we continue to grow, we commit to reanalyzing our internal structures annually with the help of an independent third party, to ensure we do not perpetuate systems of oppression within our own organization. This includes a commitment to building a diverse brand that represents ALL people no matter their race, gender identity or sexual orientation.

Third: We are calling on Mayor Jim Kenney to prioritize the safety of Philadelphians in all regards. We need to rethink not only policing in our city, but also pedestrian safety, the health and wellbeing of our communities, and the cleanliness of our environment.

Fourth: We commit to being outspoken and fighting for justice, freedom, safety and transparency in as many regards as we can. We promise to keep an open mind and be the change we want to see in the world. We will have these difficult conversations and speak up when it is right, not simply when it is convenient.

Systemic racism is real. It is a cancer in our society. This country is supposed to be built on the ideal that ALL people are created equal and it’s about time we started delivering on that promise. Hate is not welcome in our JUNTO. If this is something you cannot get behind, take your business elsewhere. Coming to terms with the systems that bring some people up while pushing others down is the first step towards creating a better future for everyone. All lives can't matter until BLACK LIVES MATTER.

We stand with our brothers and sisters who have taken to the streets to fight for justice and equality. We love you. We support you. Stay loud. Never forget that comfort is the enemy of progress

We are a startup, and affirming these beliefs now is more important than ever as we lay the foundation of our brand. In the coming weeks we will continue to ask questions, have conversations and educate ourselves. With that being said, our communications channels are open. We want to hear your voice, please do not hesitate to reach out.
